The Army Volunteer Corps Program enhances effective recruitment, training, recognition, logistical support for, and use of, volunteers. The Fort Knox Army Volunteer Corps Manager (AVCM) serves as the single point of contact for volunteerism on the installation. The AVCM serves as the command's consultant on volunteer issues; provides training to other volunteer managers and volunteers; develops and maintains a volunteer vacancy job bank; recruits, interviews, and refers volunteers to organizations; assists volunteer managers in developing job descriptions; serves as an advocate for volunteer issues; chairs the Installation Volunteer Information Exchange Meeting (IVIE); provides recognition or advise others in this area; and manages the installation's monthly and annual volunteer recognition ceremonies, as well as activities for National Volunteer Week and Make a Difference Day.
The AVC office is located at ACS, Building 5101, 12th Armored Division Avenue, Fort Knox, KY 40121
The AVCM assists individuals in learning about volunteer opportunities on the installation and may be able to direct them to volunteer centers in the civilian community. Volunteer opportunities are found in a wide variety of programs that provide services to soldiers and their family members such as Army Community Service, hospitals, chapels, Child and Youth Services, recreation, libraries, etc. There are volunteer opportunities with numerous private organizations such as Spouses' Clubs, Red Cross, or Scouts.
