Want to be a Lifeguard - this is your class.
be 15 years old on or before the final scheduled session of the class.
swim 500 yards continuously using these strokes in the following order:
200 yards of front crawl using
rhythmic breathing and a stabilizing, propellant kick.
100 yards of
200 yards of either front crawl with rhythmic breathing or
breaststroke. This 200 yards may be a mixture of front crawl and
swim 20 yards using front crawl or breaststroke, surface dive to a depth of
7-10 feet, retrieve a 10 pound object, return
to the surface
and swim 20 yards back to the starting point with the object.
Completion of this course results in Red Cross
Certification in Lifeguarding and CPR.
Instruction for this class is under the
direction of Robert Jenkins. Mr. Jenkins is a Red Cross certified Lifeguard
Instructor and the Director of the MWR Aquatics Program.
