Patton Museum

Patton Museum was originally dedicated on May 30, 1949. It’s goal was to preserve the history of Armor and Cavalry by keeping watch over historical materials and making exhibits available to soldiers, researchers, and the general public. The museum is one of the largest in the Army Museum System. The present museum was constructed by the Cavalry and Armor Foundation without cost to the U.S. Government. Funding for construction was provided by donations from thousands of individuals and organizations from around the world.

Museum displays offer a vast assortment of vehicles, helicopters, equipment,

weapons, and other types of memorabilia covering periods in time from 1550 BC when the Hyksos invaded Egypt and introduced the Egyptians to the chariot, to the present day and latest available weapons and equipment that the world has to offer.

Visitors come from all over the world to view the exhibits. Tour busses going to other places often arrive unannounced because the tour companies use the Patton Museum as one of their stops along their routes. Military reunions are often held at Fort Knox and most of the agendas allow for some time spent at the Patton Museum to take the proverbial “stroll down memory lane”.

All visitors to the museum eventually end up in the Museum Gift Shop. The Gift Shop is a wonderful place to purchase a gift or souvenir to remind you of your visit. If you’re looking for a really unique gift for a family member or that special someone, the gift shop is the place to find it. Items in the gift shop run from 50 cents for a post card to $150.00 for a M1913 Patton Sword Replica.. Big sellers in the gift shop are the challenge coins and extremely detailed pre-assembled models by CORGI, Forces of Valor, and 21st Century Toys. Modeling enthusiasts will find most military models in our selection. For those who want to collect models but don’t have the time to build them, pre-assembled models from op-of-the-line companies are the solution.
