Walk to Afghanistan
This program is for both individuals and teams, of up to 20 people, and is a self-guided program where individuals and teams work to walk, run, bike, swim, or exercise the 7,612 miles to Afghanistan.
Any activity that an individual is active during will count towards your miles, playing with your children, intramural sports, active yard work, aerobic classes, spring cleaning, etc. If you cannot track the exact mileage then remember this rule: 30 minutes of activity equals 1 mile! Get moving and you will add up the miles quickly.
Walking begins March 7, 2011 so please have your registration turned into Gammon PFC before you start tracking your miles. The more regularly you and your team turn in your miles, the sooner your results will be posted, however there is no timeline for turning in your mileage reports. Turn them in at your convenience or email them to jennifer.r.mccollum.naf@mail.mil

Gammon Aerobics Class Schedule (Effective 1/20/2012)
Please check below the schedule for information regarding classes. All classes are $3.00 each, or a 10-class punch card is available for $25.00, or a monthly unlimited card can be purchased for $40.00. Questions concerning the aerobics program and class schedule can be directed to the aerobics coordinator at

All aerobics passes and punch cards are valid for 180 days from date of purchase. Unused sessions are non-transferable and non-refundable. Lost cards and passes cannot be replaced.
Just a reminder: Anyone who has access to our facility, which is persons 13 years of age and older with a proper ID card, may participate in our aerobic classes. NO ONE UNDER the age of 13 may be in the facility, except Kids on Site, or participate in classes.

What is Personal Training?
Personal Trainers continue to be a popular resource for military members and the community at large. Our trainers are all experienced and certified, and are available for anyone desiring individualized instruction, coaching, and motivation.
Sessions are available by appointment only, and can be tailored to fit your schedule (based on instructor availability and facility scheduling). We do not take walk in appointments.
Our trainers reserve the right to discontinue training with a client if excess late cancellations or no call no show appointments occur. Please be sure to call your trainer if you cannot make an appointment or if you need to reschedule.
Personal Training is a service offered to fitness center members who are looking for fitness advice, to develop an individualized workout program. It is also a service that provides a member one-on-one training with a Personal Trainer. Your trainer will create and guide you through your entire workout, while providing fitness education and cuing proper technique and form. This program is an excellent opportunity to obtain assistance in meeting individual health/fitness goals. MWR is offering these program to the Fort Knox community for a substantially lower price than you will find at the off post facilities in the area.

Often the hardest part of getting into shape is taking the first step. Personal Training is a great place to go for starting an exercise program. This program is designed for people of all fitness levels; whether you’ve never exercised before, exercise regularly, or have a background of being an elite athlete. This program is designed to help clients design a workout plan that is individualized to their specific goals. The Fort Knox personal training team consists of Staff who are certified by a nationally accredited organization (ex: NSCA, IFA, Cooper Institute, ACE) to deliver high quality and safe fitness programs. Our policy is to provide a professional and confidential service, while helping you toward meeting your individual fitness goals. Keep in mind that after your initial assessment, a referral may be necessary because of the limitations of our staff to meet your specific needs.
FITNESS CENTER USAGE ELIGIBILITY PATRONAGE ELIGIBILITY
You are eligible to patronize the Fort Knox Community Fitness Centers if you meet any of the following conditions: You are active duty military or a family member You are retired military, a National Guardsman, a Reservists or a family member You are a Civilian employee or a family member. You are a retired Civilian employee or a family member You are a visiting federal employee or family member. You are from any other category identified in Army Regulation 215-1, (contact the center for clarification) Family members are established as in accordance with Army Regulation 640-2 as being a lawful spouse...children under the age of 21 and unmarried...children over the age of 21 to the age of 23 who are enrolled full-time in an institution of higher learning as long as they remain unmarried and dependent upon the sponsor for over 50% of their support.
USAGE POLICIES The center entitles you to use the following free basic center services: Use of locker rooms, running track, weight room, basketball court areas, saunas, cardio room and racquetball courts. We offer weight room orientation classes by appointment - just ask at the front desk. Children 12 years old and under are not authorized in the cardiovascular, strength, sauna, steam rooms at any time. As a family member, children and youth (16 years old and under) must be under the direct supervision of a parent or guardian per AR215-1.
GUEST POLICY (Limit: one guests per authorized patron). A guest must be accompanied by an authorized patron and MUST LEAVE with the authorized patron. Guest must live outside a 50 mile radius of Fort Knox.
PHOTO ID CARDS Everyone must show a valid ID card to gain access in the Fitness Center at each visit. Authorized users who do not possess a valid ID card compatible with our computers must be issued a photo MWR usage card.
