Run For Your Life Program By Appointment Only: $10.00 The Run for Your Life Program is a challenge to all Personnel working and living on Fort Knox, who can earn awards through active and regular participation in walking and running activities. The program rewards regular exercise rather than outstanding performance.

You can earn an award certificates, given by the Directorate of Morale, Welfare, and Recreation (Sports Division), and you can earn up to 1000 mile certificates. For maximum benefit, the criteria for the walking and running programs should be fulfilled within a four-month period. This period applies to each mileage certificate issued. Exceptions will be made only for such things as (but not limited to) injury, illness, change of season, or individual medical history, and must be briefly explained when the participant applies to receive an award.
Individuals, who participate in the program within a four-month period, but not enough to earn an award in any category, will still be eligible when they complete the required mileage.
To earn a Run for Your Life Certificate:
1. Select the running or walking activity.
2. Keep a record of your participation on the fitness log.
3. When you have fulfilled the qualifying standards, bring your log to Otto Physical Fitness Center. Upon verification by the Program Coordinator, a Certificate will be issued. A new log will be issued for the next level to complete.
The Run for Your Life was designed and implemented by The United States Army back in the 70’s and 80’s. This program was done in phases. The six-week, nine-week, and sustaining phase. You could receive a patch and certificate for up to 50,000 miles. The program was subsequently dropped for reasons of expense. Patches, Certificates and monitoring was becoming very in cumbersome. This version of the program has been revamped and leaves the whole program in the hand of the participant.
The one time entrance fee of $10.00 dollars covers the expense of producing the fitness logs and the certificates. The Run for Your Life Program is a challenge to all Personnel working and living on Fort Knox, who can earn awards through active and regular participation in walking and running activities.
