Fort Knox Sports Program
Intramural level sports are designed for broad-based participation in a full range of individual and team sports consistent with patron interest, availability of suitable facilities, and unit missions. Sports are provided to enhance individual morale and unit Esprit de Corps, promote teamwork and cooperation, and to encourage individuals to attain and sustain high levels of physical fitness. All intramural sports Champions and runners-up receive awards provided by MWR at the end of a particular sports season. Intramural sports are open to all Active Duty Personnel. Military family members, DOD, and Contract Employees are permitted to participate on a limited basis.
To enhance and promote unit participation in intramural sports, Fort Knox offers the Commander's Cup Program. This program allows units to receive point based on participation and winning success. These points are tallied at the end of a sports calendar year, and the unit with the highest point total receives a trophy recognized and presented by the Commanding General. All Military Units qualify for Commander's Cup Points by participating in the core sports of bowling, basketball, volleyball, soccer, softball, golf, and flag football. Units may also receive points for participating in supplemental sports including but not limited to racquetball, dodge ball, power lifting, and the Scion Slam. Unit teams must be comprised of Active Duty members only to receive Commander's Cup Points. Family members, DOD civilians, and contract employees participating with a unit team will render the team ineligible for points.
